How is the unemployment rate measured in your country?
In the Wonderful World of Oz, anybody reporting one hour of paid employment in the previous week is counted as employed. Curiously, the Wizard who legislated this parameter some years ago was a Labor (Left wing) Prime Minister, Bob Hawke. But no Government since, of either major party, has wanted to change it for anything more realistic.
your question has to be the best economics question i’ve come across since i joined yahoo.
